Now that winter is coming to an end, it is time to pack up all those winter sweaters and boots for another season … or is it?  Transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring can be tough, especially when the weather isn’t sure what season it wants to be.  With spring 2006 on the horizon, we’re here to help you figure out what to wear to flatter your figure, feel comfortable, and look stylish; all without having to buy anything you’ll regret.

Ladies

  • The neutrals are back.  Simple shapes and colors are back with a vengeance.  Black, white, creams, tans, and all shades of grey can be seen far and wide in many spring 2006 collections.  One of the best benefits is that most of us already have the basics in our wardrobe.  Now, you will see the classic colors being used in all new shapes and fabrics.  This is a great chance to mix pieces that you already have with some new, updated shapes.
  • A hint of color is welcomed.  We all like a hint of color now and then, and this is the season to add it into your wardrobe.  Though basics are quite popular, adding a hint of color always adds a more unique twist to each outfit that you put together.  As with all other trends, keep it simple; don’t try and mix too many different colors together.  If you want to wear an emerald green top or a pair of red jeans, make sure that all of your other pieces, including your shoes, are in neutral colors.
  • Bring on the jewelry.  Big jewelry is still popular, to say the least.  Though not everyone has been a big fan of the chunky jewelry trend, it has stuck around for yet another season.  If you want to take a fashion risk, or are just in the mood to try something new, jewelry is the best way to experiment.  Also, if you feel that your outfit is too basic, adding a chunky necklace or a big link bracelet will change things all around.

Gentlemen

  • No pleats please!  Flat front pants are the favorite for men, whether they are dress pants or chinos.  The ladies do love to see that men are willing to experiment with their wardrobe, but pleated pants don’t really flatter anyone, let alone they remind most of us of the dorky guy in the office.  Make sure to have a pair of black, navy, well-fitting pinstripe dress pants in your wardrobe, along with a pair of medium-tan chinos; it is a color that looks great on everyone.
  • Loafers are classic. Tennis shoes are comfortable and boots looks nice, but loafers (made of leather or animal-friendly sudo-leather) are priceless. Loafers can go from the couch, to the office, to the dance floor, and then slid off nicely at the end of the bed.  Most commonly, you will find the basic color choices of black, brown, and sometimes navy. The choice is up to you and what colors your have predominately in your wardrobe; as expected, black is the most popular, and safest, choice.
  • Show off in sweaters.  In March, it is just starting to warm up, but not enough to cast off those comfortable sweaters that we all got for the holidays.  Out of all the fabrics out there, cashmere is the one that makes a man look most distinguished and professional, both at the office and on a date.

No matter what your style, size, or favorite colors, there is something out there for you in the spring 2006 fashion world.  Fashion has taken a wonderful turn to outfitting those of all kinds.  Once you know what looks best on you, run with it and make it yours.
