Breath in the Beauty of Blooms from Nectar Essences + EXCLUSIVE GIVEAWAY!

Recent studies have shown the our sense of smell is intimately tied to memories and emotions. This didn’t come as much of a surprise to me – my noise often revives events and feelings I’d hardly remember otherwise.

One of the “strongest” smells for me is warm cinnamon, which evokes happy memories of not only food but special times shared with family and friends.

After meeting Jenny Pao though other San Francisco friends, I was delighted to hear about the Nectar Essences line she had recently started. Based on both the spirituality and science of flower essences, Nectar Essences delivers “sweet remedies for the soul”, made from organic and biodynamic essential oils.

Call them homeopathic, call them new age, call them hippie remedies – no matter your opinion, many medical professional are starting the see the benefits of smell therapy. Both animal- and eco-friendly, Nectar Essences‘ sprays can calm you down, perk you up, and let you drift off into dreamland.

Maybe it’s mind over matter or personal memories of pleasant smells, but it is likely a mix of both concepts that make aromatic sprays so effective. For 2 weeks, I tested 3 Nectar Essences sprays (Awake, De Stress, and Sleep) at least once a day. The longer I used the sprays, the more effective they became, leading my body and mind to become nearly “programmed” to react to the unique smells in individual ways.

The “Awake” spray helped to pull me out of my morning grogginess and focus my mind on whatever the day would bring. Whenever I would get overwhelmed or distracted by too many different projects, I’d take a 5-minute break and use the “De Stress” spray. Not only was I able to come back to my work with a refreshing mindset, I was able to skip my usual afternoon nap without feeling exhausted. As my usual bedtime approached, I’d spritz my bedroom with the “Sleep” spray to help silence my chattering mind and loosen any tense muscles.

To help start of 2009 with a renewed sense of purpose and pleasure, how about an … EXCLUSIVE GIVEAWAY!

  2. I was reading this post and wanted to leave a comment about my own personal experiences with Nectar products. I have always been a slight insomniac and when I did fall asleep, I never felt completely rested. I got a bottle of Nectar’s ’sleep’ essence and immediately noticed a difference when I started using it. Not only does it smell nice, it helps me relax and fall asleep faster and wake up more refreshed. I have only been using it for a little while, but am already becoming addicted to the Nectar products.

  3. To try to recycle more.

Growing our own food (we are vegan so this is fairly simple). Creating functional items from recycled/re purposed goods, Composting, driving less walking/biking more, hopefully by the end of the year I will have some sort of solar project at least in the works if not done…. some sort ;)

I haven’t been doing a very good job of that, and I resolve to eat healthier, eat local and organic when I can, and to walk whenever I can.
