Big Wedding Retailer, Beau-coup, Gladly Goes Green with Favors and Supplies
Even before reading The Green Bride Guide, the idea of planning a swank, eco-friendly wedding was on my mind. Through my constant web browsing and enjoyment of design blogs, I was inundated with spectacular options and designs.
My first formal (no pun intended) foray into wedding goodies began with Beau-coup (French for “much” or “a lot”). Widely publicized and dedicated to charity, Beau-coup has an entire section of their online store dedicated to sustainable wedding favors and supplies. Though a proverbial “drop in the pond” compared to the entire shop of offerings, seeing a major playing in the wedding industry selling green goods is yet another step in the right direction.
The eco-friendly aspect of most of their products in this category are due to their reusable, biodegradable, or plantable aspects (all of which are a-ok in my book). Below are a few of my favorite items in their sustainable section. My boyfriend and I still haven’t decided what season we will be holding the wedding (no, we still aren’t engaged) – I’m thinking Spring or Autumn (no Summer – too hot!). Most of these products would be great for both seasons, though I would welcome the challenge of planning a winter wedding.

Available in 4 different blends (my favorites are “Wedding Bells” and “Wildflowers”), Wedding Sprinkles would be a perfect, long-lasting wedding favor. You could easily reuse the seed tin for an infinite number of household purposes.

The Natural Sinamay Envelops with Ribbon Ties, made from the leaves of the Abaca tree, could easily be used as an alternative envelop for wedding invitations or gift bags for the wedding favors. They are available in 4 different sizes, so the possibilities are endless!

My boyfriend and I both have a strong affinity for Eastern cultures (example: I’m a Buddhist and he has extensive martial arts training), having Lucky Bamboo Place card Holders would make perfect sense.

Another extension of our Asian interests lies in our passion for tea. We currently own nearly 15 different kinds (all loose leaf) and study the benefits of each type. Offering our guests customized Whole Leaf Tea Sachet Favors gives us a chance to share our interests and introduce our friends and family to new tastes.
Of the 9 flavors they offer, my favorites are Flora (Ruby red herbal tea that blends crimson flowers with cinnamon sticks.), Citrus Mint (A breathtaking blend that warms the spirits and enhances any meal.), and Oasis (Blend of green teas, spring flowers and lemon infusions. A very calming tea with subtle floral notes, and a citrus finale.).

Who says a salad can’t be gorgeous? With the Edible Flower Garden Seed Wedding Favors, our guests can plant a beautiful bouquet in their backyard or window box. Potting Shed Creations, makers of the Pocket Garden Seed Collections, sells 5 other varieties on their website.

A great alternative to throwing rice or blowing bubbles, the Lavender Wedding Rice would also be great for making customize embroidered eye pillows for the wedding party. The only hitch: my boyfriend has a very sensitive, dog-like nose; the smell of all that lavender being thrown would probably make him unbearably dizzy.

I love eco friendly favors. My home isn’t eco friendly this month, but I DID come up with a fantastic solution to recycling my magazines
Check out my holiday house tour on my blog. Pretty neat idea.
