Tara Hogan’s Delicious Design Proves That ‘Everything Counts’

It is no secret: I love Tara Hogan’s work. Founder of Ink+Wit, Tara also took the time to chat with me last year about her art and inspirations. What’s so great about her designs? They’re simple, chic, AND sustainable - the best trifecta. :)

While shopping for my new apartment in West Hartford, CT (moving in on January 14th, very excited!), I made sure to drop by Tara’s offical shop for some swank letterpress prints. Imagine how elated I was to find she has new stuff available!

Based on the classic 12 Days of Christmas song, the Everything Counts Poster is a reassuring tribute to 10 little things that matter. The poster is perfect for either a kid’s room or your cozy living space. Tara’s list of responsible, positive elements include:

  • 1 Earth
  • 2 pears to eat
  • 3 trees planted
  • 4 peace symbols
  • 5 high fives
  • 6 bowls to fill with food
  • 7 happy days
  • 8 cupcakes made with love
  • 9 wind turbines conserving energy
  • 10 cans to recycle

As with all her other designs, the Everything Counts Poster is letter pressed on 100% post consumer recycled paper with soy inks.

Maybe it is the vintage-loving side of me or the countless versions my family had, but no house is complete without tea towels. Tara recently debuted not one but TWO original designs printed on strong and versatile linen fabric. If you can’t bear the thought of soiling these darlings, the work perfectly as wall hangings too!

Created in collaboration with Pistachio Press, the 2009 Letterpress Wall Calender is a limited edition creation with only 300 copies available. Featuring a unique, visually delightful design for each month of the year, I plan on hanging this beauty in my office to inspire me every day.

The initial inspiration for my first Yoga Journal profile, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary Letterpress Print will have a special place on my kitchen wall. Proceeds from the print are donated to New York state’s Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, a most worthy cause! The farm plans to use the money to build a hospice for their needy critters.

Along with featuring a menagerie of pasture pets, the print also says “loka samasta sukhino bhavantu” - a Buddhist peace mantra which translates to “happiness to all beings everywhere.” The farm’s online store also features the print on an organic cotton t-shirt.
