I’m likely to be the 100th person to blog about this, but it’s worth the attention. First spotted on TreeHugger.com (written by the ever-eco Worsted Witch, a.k.a Jasmin), Canada’s Mirage Paper Company is launched a 100% post-consumer recycled range. Named Ecojot, the collection is currently available in limited supply via select online outlets and stores in Canada and the United States.

Even though I no longer look forward to the joys of a new school year (you know, having graduated and all), I have always had an odd appreciation/addiction to stationary and office supplies. Finally, there is a whole line that is visually appealing, useful, and still sustainable - swoon!

These standout journals, sketchbooks, and notepads feature all-new designs by Mirage’s Carolyn Gavin. Beyond using just recycled paper, the Ecojot line also embraces many other green elements:

  • All paper is certified by the Forest Stewartship Council (FSC), an independent international non-profit dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
  • All Ecojot items are made in Canada, sweatshop-free.
  • All glues and inks on Ecojot products are vegetable-based (a.k.a. biodegradable).
  • The paper mills use landfill gas to generate clean, alternative power.
  • A portion of all sales of Ecojot will go to an environmental cause (which cause? how big of a portion? that they do not say)

I found a short list of brick-and-mortar stores that carry the new Ecojot line via the Mirage Designer Blog:

  • La Bella Casa - Portland, OR
  • Village Stationery - Palo Alto, CA
  • A Book for All Seasons - Leavensworth, WA
  • Ravena Third Place Books - Seattle, WA
  • Gold Leaf Stationers - New York, NY
  • National Museum of Women in the Arts - Washington, DC
